Education Benefits for Veterans in New Jersey

Veterans, service members, and their families are sometimes eligible for education benefits including help paying tuition, assistance finding the right school or training program, and career counseling.  Some of the programs include the Post-9/11 GI Bill, the Montgomery GI Bill, The National Call to Service program, and the post-Vietnam Era Veterans’ Educational Assistance Program. The Veterans Administration administers multiple programs sometimes with cooperation with other partners, and has an online tool for determining which programs a person might be eligible for at Education and Training Benefits. That site also provides information on applying for those benefits.

The State of New Jersey Department of Military and Veterans Affairs collects information on other educational benefits for New Jersey Veterans in its Veterans Benefits Guide. Some of those programs include the POW-MIA Tuition Benefit Program, the War Orphan Tuition Assistance Program, and the Veterans Tuition Credit Program. More information on these programs can be obtained by calling 609-530-6949. Additional information and numerous resources on military student aid and grants can be found at Military Student Aid (from FinAid).
