  • 10 Steps to Protecting the Legal Rights of Breast Cancer Patients (from the American Bar Association) - This site contains practical advice for obtaining coverage from your health insurer for treatment for breast cancer. This information also pertains to your legal rights to coverage for other types of cancer and life-threatening illnesses.

  • The New Jersey Cancer Education and Early Detection Screening Program (CEED) (from the the NJ Department of Health and Senior Services) - CEED provides free comprehensive screening services for breast, cervical, prostate, and colorectal cancers. Services include case management, early detection, tracking, and assistance to obtain treatment. To be eligible for the program, your income can be no more than 250% of the federal poverty level ($27,075 for a one-person household and $36,425 for two persons) and you must have either no health insurance or not enough insurance coverage.*

    Screening Locations (from the the NJ Department of Health and Senior Services) - The services are provided at CEED centers, which are located in every county.

    * If you meet the CEED requirements for free screening services but would otherwise be eligible for Medicaid, please see the description for the Special Medicaid Program for People with Breast or Cervical Cancer.
