Now jurors, with their assigned numbers handy, can check the judiciary's website to learn if they must report for jury service the following day. Just go to www.njcourtsonline.com, select Jury Information from the drop-down menu, and choose the county of service. This new service - already provided as a pilot project in Burlington and Ocean counties - supplements the telephone call-in system the judiciary has been using for many years. Judge Philip S. Carchman, administrative director of the courts, says the new service is part of the judiciary's effort to show citizens the court system values their time - an effort that also includes wi-fi connections in jury rooms, desktop computers in some courthouses and general renovations, as well as opportunities to participate more actively in some trials.
